End of January: Check in

31st January 2019

Summer arrived this month in New Zealand. High temperatures and strong winds. Perfect weather for stitching inside and staying out of the strong sun in the middle of the day.

I have managed to work on a few of my projects from my year of wips choices.

Linen and threads mystery Sal 2019- peacock garden , I managed to completed part 1 the center peacock. I  used Dmc thread 3765 for my peacock and stitch him on 32 count linen in Ecru. Looking forward to the next installment.

Red House Sampler - The Sampler company. Stitched on a piece of fabric hand dyed by myself. Its a 32 count. I finished the trees in the middle and worked a lot on the big house. I have finished the red area, but still have the roof , windows and trees on the steps to finish next time. I am using the called for colours.

Aida Garden Fairy - Mirabilia. Worked on the fairy wings this time round. I got one side of the wings completed.  It involved a lot of kreinek and blending filament. She is being stitched on 32 ct Stoney Point Permin Linen.

Barnyard Kitties - Dimensions . I spent sometime working on these little cuties. I worked mostly on the barn frame. The outside edge by the ginger kitten is now all stitched except for back stitch. I also worked on filling in the spaces on the front piece and started up the far side. A little slow going on the back Aida. Can only work on it in the day light.

Dusty Rose - Heaven and Earth Designs (retired chart)

I started on the first page of the middle row of the design. I am using this wip, for the stitches by numbers  2400  event on  Full Coverage Fanatics on face book.
I managed to stitch 2809 for the month of January, stating after the 19th of January.

I also work on a couple of my choices for the extreme challenge 1: from Soulful stitchers on face book.

Ems project 2008 - Rose Sampler. I managed to finish the top boarder all the way across. Completing parts 1-3 . The colours I am using for this sampler are Dmc 3685 and 04. It is being stitch on 32 count Ecru Linen. Next will be one of the alphabets.

Peacock Tree - Burda Magazine 1986 . I managed to get the 2 peacocks done in the middle of the tree. This is being stitched on 32 count ecru linen. I am stitching it using Dmc 816. Not sure if I want to work the tree first or go down and work the horses. I think I will work the trunk of the tree, then decide.

French filigree, This is my 1 thread a day project. I managed to work on this everyday. My length of thread is around 18". I have used both the black  and dmc  3746.  I managed to complete 1 page and move back to the middle of the design. This is being stitched on 22 count Aida.

I also was able to achieve some car stitching this month. I have the prairie Schooler Santa's in my car for this task. I worked on 3 this month. Santa 1987,1993 and 1996 . I completed the stitching on 1987 and 1996 and made good progress on 1993.

I also made a new start for High Tea Sunday. which was the last Sunday of the Month. I chose to start Veronica from Mirabilia. She is being stitched on a piece of 32 count linen, that was hand dyed by myself.

Well I guess I did get a lot stitched this month.

new year, year of wips challenge 2019

Wow 24 days into the new year, its been a very busy time so far this year.

I have decided to do the year of wips challenge gain this year, as I enjoy the challenge of focusing on a group of wips to completion each year. The challenge is run by Soulful stitchers, from face book.

Here are the 20 pieces that I wish to complete this year:

Dusty Rose a retired chart from Heaven and Earth Designs - goal is for 11 pages.

Black and White Garden Needle keep, Hands on Designs
Peacock Garden, Linen and threads mystery sal 2019
 Aida Garden Fairy - Mirabilia
Red House Sampler - The Sampler Company
Mailhat  D'Auvergne (Christmas Reindeer) - Renato Parolin
Count Twice - Plum street Samplers

 Good Intentions - Kathy Barrick
 Barnyard Kitties - Dimensions

Tis the Season - Blackbird Designs

Royal Holiday - Mirabilia
Once I had Decided on my wips for the year. They decided to put up in the group - Extreme challenge 1 = take your birthday date  and add that many wips to the challenge. So since I have a ton of wips     ( and more that I want to stitch) . I am doing this as well. My birthday is on the 14th of the month, so 14 more projects.

1: Peacock Tree - Burda Magazine 1986

2: Grandmother Fairy - Lavender and Lace
3:Antique Sampler - Fanny Harris Sampler
4: Garden Party - Paula Vaughan
5: Cookies for Santa - Shannon Wasilieff
6: Farmhouse Christmas - Little house needleworks
7: Prairie Life Sampler - Heartstring Samplery
 8: Winter Sheep - Thistles
9: A Flock of Birds - blackbird designs
 10: Reindeer's Winter - Thistles
11: Petal Pincushion - Mani di Donna
12:Brick House Sampler - Brenda Gervais
 13:EMS project 2008 - Rose Sampler
 14: A Needlewoman's Notes - Abby Rose Designs
So as you can see, lots of planned stitching to be complected this year.

Then I looked around at all my other wips and wanted to stitch on them, so I have decided  to have my car stitching as ornaments this year. I have a bag in  the car with 10 ornaments in it. and try to do a thread each morning before work if possible.

My French Filigree design from Heaven and Earth designs, I have decided to not put on my year  of wips list this year, but have set a challenge to do one thread everyday.
Lets see how far we can get.

2018 year end review

December 31st 2018

Oh my gosh, as you get older the days and weeks seem to fly by. Lots of things have happened this year to slow down my stitching progress. I had to move house - 2 months of my life gone, looking, packing, moving and adjusting to new neighborhood and house.

As its the end of the year, I thought that we better have a look back at what I have finished stitching,  and been working on.

Finishes for 2018:

Dolls House by Joan Elliot - Finished in April
Florentina by Mirabilia - finished in May
Circus of Hearts - ink circles - finished in May
Fully finished onto a footstool and used regularly by Gypsy the little cat

Repair shop - stoney creek - finished in July
Amish Quilt: JBW designs - finished in September
Brew Ha Ha - Plum street samplers - Finished in February
Willow House Alphabet - Cherry Hill Samplery - finished in  March
Friends for you book - blackbird designs - finished in July
Cross stitch nation - heartstring samplery - finished June
Good Old Gent - finished in June

Stitchers Sampler - by Ginger and Spice - finished October

Every day that I work I get to stitch while waiting for the store to open, so I have completed several christmas ornaments this year.

Sugar Stitches - gingerbread house and cupcake
I have stitched Needle and threads
Several Santa Ornaments: some fully finished , some not completed into ornaments

Here is the progress I have made on Dusty Rose from Heaven and earth designs:
Almost completed page 19, about 1/3 of the way thru the whole project.
I also framed 2 of my previous Christmas finishes. - Christmas Garden - blackbird designs and Winter White Santa from Mirabilia.

To finish off, here is a couple of pictures of our main tree this year

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone. I am looking forward to a more productive year for 2019, Lots of  new starts and hopefully lots of finishes to come.
